Quizizz Student Login Problems: How to Get In (2026 Guide)

If the sign-in screen keeps refusing you, work through this page from the top. Nearly every student login failure has one of a handful of causes.

Joining is not the same as signing in

Confusing these two wastes more time than anything else. Joining a live quiz with a code usually needs no account: go to the join page, type the code from the board, type a name, and you are in. If a login screen is blocking you there, you may be on the wrong page, or your teacher may have set the activity to require sign-in.

Signing in matters when something has to be attached to you personally: homework with a deadline, results your teacher sees under your real name, your score history, and streaks.

The three ways students sign in

Google sign-in is the most common in schools: click the Google button and pick an account instead of typing a password. Email and password is the classic route, an address you typed in yourself plus a password you chose, more common for students who signed up at home. School or LMS accounts sign you in through a learning management system or single sign-on portal, where you often never see a login page at all.

The best clue about which one your class uses is where your teacher posts the link. If assignments live inside your school portal, use that. If links come to your school address, use that account. If you cannot tell, ask before creating anything new. A second account turns a two-minute problem into a two-week one, splitting your work across two identities.

Common login problems and their fixes

Signed into the wrong Google account

The number one cause. If a personal Google account is already active in your browser, the Google button can sign you straight into it without asking. Nothing looks broken, but your homework is not there. Sign out of the quiz site, click Google sign-in again, and watch for the account chooser. If it never appears, sign out of the extra Google accounts first.

Using a personal account when the class uses a school one

Your teacher’s roster is tied to specific accounts. Sign in with a personal address when the class is built on school-issued ones and you may log in fine yet see no assignments. The fix is switching accounts, not resetting a password. If you already did work under the personal one, tell your teacher so those results can be found.

Forgotten password

Use the forgot password link and follow the reset email. Two things trip students up. The email goes to the address on the account, so if you cannot remember which address you used, the reset will not help. And if your account uses Google sign-in there is no separate password to reset, so recover your Google account instead, or ask school IT. Password rules vary, so follow what the reset page tells you.

Email typo, or an account that was never created

If sign-in fails and the reset email never arrives, the account may not exist. One mistyped character at signup creates an account on an address you cannot receive mail at, which behaves exactly like a broken login. Check the spelling, including the part after the @ symbol, and whether you ever finished signup. If nothing turns up, ask your teacher which address to use.

School domain restrictions

Many schools restrict which accounts can join their organisation, or what students can sign up for on school devices and networks. The result is a sign-up that will not complete however carefully you type. These rules differ by school and region and you cannot change them yourself. Ask your teacher or school IT which account is permitted.

Age or parental consent restrictions

Younger students may not be able to create an account independently. Minimum age and parental or school consent rules differ by country and by school, so do not assume a number you read elsewhere applies to you. If sign-up stops at a step about your age or asks for a parent, that is the restriction working as intended, not a bug. Your teacher can usually still let you join by code.

Browser autofill using old credentials

If your password changed at some point, your browser may still insert the old one on every page load, and you will not notice because the field looks filled correctly. Clear both fields, type everything by hand, and try again. If that works, update the saved password.

Shared or family devices

On a family laptop, library computer or shared classroom device, someone else’s session may still be active, so you land in a sibling’s or classmate’s account. Sign out fully first, and again when you finish, or the next person posts scores under your name.

How to switch accounts cleanly

1. Sign out of the quiz site from your profile menu. Closing the tab is not signing out.
2. If you use Google sign-in, sign out of that Google account in the browser too.
3. Open a private or incognito window: no saved sessions, no autofill.
4. Sign in there with the account you want to test.
5. If it works there but not in your normal window, the cause was a leftover session or saved password, not your account.

For teachers: the first ten minutes

• Decide beforehand whether students need to sign in. For a quick practice game, joining by code removes the problem entirely.
• Say which account to use, in the same words every time: “your school Google account, not your personal one”.
• Post the join link rather than having students type a URL from memory.
• Mention once that the site is now branded Wayground and old logins still work. That sentence prevents a wave of hands.
• Have a fallback for the two or three who cannot get in, such as pairing them up.
• Check with IT in advance about sign-up, age or consent restrictions rather than discovering them live.

1. Try the code first. You may not need to log in at all.
2. Work out which account your class uses: school Google, personal email, or school portal.
3. Sign out fully, sign in again, and watch for the Google account chooser.
4. Clear autofilled fields and type everything by hand.
