Quizizz Is Now Wayground: Everything That Changed and What Stayed the Same

In June 2025, Quizizz announced that it was changing its name to Wayground. The website moved from quizizz.com to wayground.com, the logo and colours changed, and the product you see when you log in now carries a different name at the top of the screen. Nothing else about your account changed. Your login still works, your quizzes are still there, and your students can still join games the same way they did before.

What happened, and when

The rebrand was announced in June 2025. From that point, the company began operating under the Wayground name, with wayground.com as its main website. The change was a rename and a visual refresh, not a merger, an acquisition by another brand, or a shutdown. The same product team continued building the same platform.

Quizizz Inc. remains the legal parent entity behind Wayground. That detail matters more than it sounds: it means any purchase orders, district contracts, invoices, or procurement records that name Quizizz Inc. remain valid. Schools that went through a formal approval process for Quizizz do not need to start that process again because the public-facing name is different.

Data privacy policies were also unchanged through the rebrand, and the company retained its Common Sense Media Privacy Seal. If your district signed off on the platform’s privacy posture before June 2025, that assessment still describes the same policies.

Why the name changed

The company framed the change around scope. The name Quizizz described one activity type: quizzes. Over the years, the platform grew well past that. Teachers were using it for lessons, practice sets, homework, video and reading activities, and reporting on student progress across a unit rather than a single game. The company also pointed to AI-assisted content creation and curriculum support as areas it wanted to grow into, neither of which fits neatly under a name built from the word “quiz.”

Wayground was chosen as a name that does not box the product into one format. If you are a teacher

Sign in with the account you already have. Your library, your classes, your assigned activities and your historical reports are all in place. Nothing was archived or reset as part of the rename.

• Your login email and password are unchanged. Google and Microsoft sign-in still work if that is how you logged in before.
• Quizzes and lessons you built, plus anything you saved from the public library, are still in your account.
• Class rosters and past reports carried over, so year-over-year comparisons are still available.
• Canvas, Blackboard and other LMS connections continue to work without reinstalling anything.
• The interface layout stayed broadly consistent. New features arrive gradually rather than all at once, so the product will not feel unfamiliar on your first login.

If you are a student

Almost nothing changes. You join a game the same way: go to the join page, type the code your teacher gives you, and enter your name. The only visible difference is the branding on the page.

• joinmyquiz.com still works. So does wayground.com/join.
• Join codes work exactly as before, with the same format and the same length.
• If you had a student account, it is still your account. You do not need to sign up again.
• Work you submitted before the rename is still attached to your account and visible to your teacher.

In practice, yes. Old quizizz.com addresses direct you to the equivalent place on wayground.com, and joinmyquiz.com continues to function as a join entry point. A student who has joinmyquiz.com memorised or written on a worksheet does not need new instructions.

That said, redirects are a courtesy rather than a permanent guarantee, so it is sensible to update the links you control. This is a cleanup task, not an emergency.

What to update when you have time

1. Browser bookmarks pointing at quizizz.com. Replace them with the wayground.com equivalent so you land directly on the right page.
2. Links you have shared with students in your LMS, class website, or Google Classroom posts. The integrations keep working, but the visible URLs will read better if they match the current site.
3. Printed join instructions, handouts, sub plans and classroom posters. Either leave joinmyquiz.com in place, which still works, or reprint with wayground.com/join.
4. Slide decks and orientation materials that show the old logo, so students are not confused when the screen looks different from the handout.
5. Emails to families that describe the platform by name, so parents searching for it find the right site.

Did I lose my quizzes? No. All saved quizzes, classes, reports and instructional materials carried over unchanged. If you cannot find something, it is a navigation issue rather than a deletion, and searching your library by title usually resolves it.
